A US Influencer Goes To Jail In Dubai For Shouting
Tierra Young Allen, a social media influencer, has been jailed in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (The U.A.E.), for nearly two months on charges of "the crime" of yelling and now faces jail time. In April, things got started when Young, 29, had an argument with a rental agency. Young and his companion had been in an accident involving one of the company's vehicles.
Young had gone back to the firm to retrieve some of her belongings, but she was hit with a bill she had not been expecting. Almost immediately, an altercation broke out, and when Young started screaming, he broke one of the country's regulations against making excessive loud in public places.
Young's mother, Tina Baxter, spoke to Fox 26 about her daughter's tragedy and revealed that she may go to prison as a result of it. "It's very scary," Baxter recalls, detailing how her daughter's trip to the rental car agency to recover her ID, credit card, and other belongings left in the car took an unexpected turn.
She learned that in order to obtain these products, she would need to pay a sum of money that was not specified. There was a young man who was very hostile towards her, and she had to deal with him. Baxter continued, adding that her daughter yelled back, leading to her arrest for "the crime" of yelling. A security film of the altercation will be used as evidence in court. Dubai authorities are currently conducting an investigation into the incident and have taken Allen's passport as part of that process.
Quanell X, a prominent American activist and the leader of the New Black Panther Nation in Houston, who has been following Young's case, recently claimed that theocratic influences are evident in the country's stringent legal system. Quanell X went on to say that raising one's voice in public, especially in the presence of ladies, is frowned upon in the country.
“They have a strict law system that is based on theocracy. She is in jail for one reason and one reason alone, she raised her voice. In that country, a female is not even allowed to raise her voice. If she raises her voice it’s punishable by jail time,” Quanell X explained. "In our opinion, she did not commit a crime. Don’t punish women for doing the same thing a man can do in Dubai. It’s not fair, and it’s not right.”
