News flying around is that the reason why Burundi has not recorded any case of covid-19 is because they do not even have the testing kits. But that is not the true position.
In a new communiqué issued on Wednesday 25 March, 2020, the Burundi Ministry of Public health has reaffirmed that the country has so far not recorded any case of coronavirus and reassures about the availability of products, including laboratories to diagnose the virus hitting neighboring countries and elsewhere in the world.
Burundi is a small East African Community with population of slightly above 11 million. Studies since 2007 have shown Burundians to have extremely poor levels of satisfaction with life; the World Happiness Report 2018 rated them the world's least happy in 2018.
One begins to wonder if their ability to contain covid-19 is because of their little size or population. If that is the case, Nigeria should begin to rethink about disintegrating the country. A country with over 200 million people ought to be advantaged in certain areas. The bookmakers have been proven wrong on a number of occasions that Nigeria’s population has not favored them in any ramifications, except in the area of noise making.
